Persuasive speeches

well everyone finally finished their speeches and i think everyone did better! =) except for me =( probabloy because i was less excited about this topic than my previous topics. but i'm glad i've got that over with....

AAUUGHHH!

now theres the broadcasting thing coming up!=)?am i excited? =( am i worried? i have no idea how i'm getting through with this one, but i kno i'll get through. i hope everyone else does too!

Body language Observation

Our group (Tushara, Asha, Tiffany, and Raji) observed a couple of girls in the hallway. It was drizzling outside so no one was at our previous location, Sophomore Tree. They were laughing, eating, and talking, and occasionally looking down to books spread out across their area. One looked kind of bored, either that or put out; one looked expectant, or hyper, energetic. She kept looking around. Two were working more, the other looking over. It was difficult to tell social position; they all seemed equal. But it was definitely interesting to watch them during lunch, see the movements they might have not been sure they were making. Body language is very insightful.

Being A True Hero

"When I was young, my favorite hero was Superman, because he would always help people, no matter what it required...." the speaker began. Then, he went on to say that although the ideal hero for us is usually a comic book figure, complete with supernatural powers, capes, costumes, and a symbol, there's really much more to a hero than that. To tell the truth, a hero is someone who is willing to do something kind for somebody else, regardless of what reason. Anyone can be a hero, at anytime, even during a career; teachers, firefighters, policeman, doctors and etc. are all included. Being a hero is simply anybody who goes out of their way to do the right thing for someone else just because it benefits everybody. We all have the potential to be a hero, but there are 2 main factors that you need to help you be a hero: initiative, and opportunity. If you notice and take on the initiative or step up to giving yourself up to helping others, then you have grabbed the opportunity to be a hero for someone else. But heroes don't just do the right thing to make themselves feel better; they do it to make the other person feel better, although the reward is all the same. It doesn't matter who, what or where you are; you can always be a hero. I wish to ask you; what is a hero to you? Is it those comic book figures, an everyday hero, or both? Still, no matter what you do, from picking up a piece of trash from the ground at the beach, or even saving a person's life in a fire, you can still be a hero because you make a difference in the environment and yourself. Even though an act of heroism may sometimes be easily given or brief, their echoes will never die, for they are truly endless. When we lose our heroism, our community falls apart; but when we embrace it, the hero within ourselves truly shine.♥

Secrets to Body Language :)

I thought the video secrets to body languge was informative. Knowing when someone is lying is good so that you could hold it against that person. Plus, I thought it was really cool that people do different stuff with their body when they have different emotions. I didn't know that professtional people like the presidant or actors practiced their body languge so that they don't look dumb in front of people. I thought it was really funny when George Bush made a mistake, but it didn't really look like he cared. It looked more like he was some kid who was like oh i made a mistake, my bad! : ) Overall I thoght the video was pretty good... for a school thing.

Body Language Assignment. :D

Theres are some pictures that I took while observing the halls during lunch. Of these groups, there are no real "leaders". These groups are formed by, first, one person sitting alone. Eventually, his/her friend comes, then their friend, then their friend, then their friend... ect. The groups eventually get bigger and bigger until there are really, no more people left to invite to their groups. These groups are also scattered along the edges of the lockers. Many of them talk and just chat, and play around. Usually, none of them are doing homework. In picture one, Augustin, Raj, and (unidentified) are noticed in the picture, chatting amiably. In the background of the 1st picture, Edwardo, Diego, and Isidro are talking amongst themselves as well. In picture two, there is a biiiiig group of people aligned up against the lockers. There is Lizzy, Katy, Yasmine, Yasmine, (unidentified), Jeremy, Terry, and more. Across from there are also more lines of people sitting and eating their lunches. In picture 3, it is a smaller group. Daphne, Frank(Frark), Kyle, Allison, Kyung, and Teresa are lined up against the lockers. (again). As you can see, there is a significant pattern in how 7th graders(scrubs) eat lunch. :D
